The recovery of the Bonelli eagle population in the Comunidad de Madrid area involves the joint managing of interventions consisting in the liberation of specimen as well as interventions in the natural environment.  Therefore, among the steps taken to reduce the mortality of the libererated birds as well as the wild ones, there is an undergoing assessment of the areas that highly affect  this threatened specie due to electrocutions, one of the main causes of mortality. These measures are framed within LIFE Bonelli, the project financed by the EU helping the recovery of the spanish population, one of the most threatened prey species of Europe, in their historically dwelling territories.
