LIFE is the financial body that supports environmental and conservation projects throughout the European Union. LIFE has co-funded approximately 3,954 projects, contributing approximately 3.1 billion euros to the protection of the environment.
The Natura 2000 Network is central to the policy on nature and biodiversity in the European Union. It is one of the networks for protected natural areas in the European Union established under the 1992 Habitat Directive. The objective of the network is to assure the long-term conservation of natural lands and the rarest and most threatened species in Europe.
