We have received two new pictures from Helena and Filabres, the two eagles that are still settled in the liberation area where the forest rangers keep providing supplementary feeding.  Helena, who was born in GREFA and liberated in 2012, is taking care of Filabres, who comes from Andalucía and was liberated in 2014.  Filabres’ transmitter is out of order so he will have to be captured in order to provide him with a new one.

She is the 23rd eagle that has been liberated in the island and the 45th within the project, and.. There’s good news about Daimiel, the last of the eagles that was liberated.

Dilar has arrived today in Mallorca.  He’s been transferred from the Junta de Andalucía and trained by GREFA.  This is the 23rd Bonelli eagle that has been liberated in Mallorca by COFIB-Balear Islands Government. Besides, Daimiel, another eagle that was liberated a month and a half ago and temporarily placed close to the liberation area, has performed an awesome flight, progressing in her re-adaptation to free life.

On October 16th 2014, most of the LIFE Bonelli partners held a meeting at GREFA´s facilities in Majadahonda. These meetings are of vital importance since partners can check the actions taken at each point and assess the development on this period of the LIFE project.  In this meeting future actions for 2015 were planned and coordinated. Administrative issues weren’t forgotten.

Alfonso Llamas (GAN-Gobierno de Navarra) and Carlota Viada (COFIB_Gobierno de las Islas Baleares) have represented LIFE Bonelli at the ending project congress of LIFE Save the Flyers, that took place in Santa Fiora (Toscana, Italy) between November 5 to 7.

Daimiel, the last Bonelli Eagle that was liberated in Mallorca, is fine, but needs trophic support while recovering self-confidence. We have the experience of liberating other birds that have spent a long time rehabilitating and they stop coming to the feeding point when they already feel confident again.  We are completely confident on Daimiel and that he will be fully reintroduced into the wildlife thanks to Tomeu Morro, the eagle carer of Mallorca.
